Deluge Skid Package Design and Detailed Engineering

Deluge skid packages bring firewater valve assemblies, associated piping, instruments and supporting steelwork into a coordinated modular arrangement. KHAAS Group provides structural and mechanical detailed engineering support for deluge skid packages used in oil and gas and industrial projects.

We work with package manufacturers, EPC contractors and project teams to translate approved fire-protection requirements and vendor information into coordinated layouts, calculations and fabrication documentation.

What Is a Deluge Skid?

A deluge package contains a deluge valve and its associated trim and interfaces. When the approved release arrangement operates, the valve opens to allow water into the system piping. The exact valve assembly, release method and equipment arrangement must follow the selected manufacturer's documentation and the approved project fire-protection design.

Why Package Coordination Matters

A compact footprint should still provide access to valves, gauges, trim, drains and test connections. The base frame must accommodate the supported equipment and the applicable project loads. Piping connections, maintenance space and field interfaces need to be resolved before fabrication.

KHAAS Group’s Engineering Scope

  • Skid structural analysis and base-frame design.

  • Equipment arrangement and 3D model coordination.

  • Piping layout and pipe-support detailing.

  • Pipe stress assessment where required by the agreed scope.

  • Connection, anchor-bolt and lifting lug design.

  • General arrangement and fabrication drawings.

  • Bills of materials and coordinated engineering documentation.

Our Deluge Skid Design Methodology

1. Review the approved system inputs

Check the P&ID, valve and trim drawings, equipment data, design requirements, connection sizes and client specifications. Confirm responsibilities for hydraulic design, detection, release logic and approvals with the fire-protection specialist.

2. Develop an accessible layout

Coordinate operator access, maintenance clearances, valve orientation and package interfaces. Preserve manufacturer-required trim arrangements and identify any proposed changes for specialist review.

3. Design the frame and supports

Assess the agreed operating, test, lifting and transport conditions as applicable. Coordinate equipment weights, pipe reactions, support details and foundation connections.

4. Complete the fabrication package

Review the model and drawings across disciplines, close client comments and issue the agreed calculations, fabrication details and material schedules.

Deliverables for EPCs and Package Manufacturers

Depending on the contract, deliverables can include the structural calculation report, skid general arrangement, 3D model, base-frame fabrication drawings, connection details, lifting details, pipe-support drawings and material take-off. Inspection and testing requirements should be coordinated with the package supplier and approved project specifications.

Defining the Fire-Protection Interface

Deluge skid detailed engineering is one part of the complete fire-protection system. Hydraulic adequacy, hazard coverage, detection and release logic, equipment approvals and commissioning requirements remain with the assigned qualified specialists unless expressly included in the agreed scope. Applicable standards and client requirements must be identified for each project.

Why KHAAS Group?

As skid package design and detailed engineering specialists, KHAAS Group combines structural and mechanical coordination with practical fabrication detailing. Our Chennai-based team supports Indian and international oil and gas projects with defined deliverables and a structured review process.

Frequently Asked Questions

What information is needed for a deluge skid quotation?

Provide the approved P&ID, valve vendor drawings, layout constraints, weights, piping specification, site conditions, lifting requirements and expected deliverables.

Can KHAAS work with a nominated valve vendor?

Yes. Package layouts and structural details can be developed around the nominated vendor's approved equipment data and trim requirements.
